Saskatchewan RCMP ask for your help identifying the occupants of a side‑by‑side vehicle believed to be involved in a fatal shooting on Big Island Lake Cree Nation late last year.
The incident, which occurred on December 30, 2025, left one man dead and three others injured, prompting a dangerous persons alert for the community and surrounding area.
Ongoing investigation and public appeal
Since the homicide, RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit has been working to identify suspects, interview witnesses, gather surveillance footage, and track sightings of the vehicle. The side‑by‑side is described as white with a black roof, and investigators have released a video in hopes of generating new leads.
“We’re asking the public to help us move this investigation forward,” said Insp. Ashley St. Germaine of the Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Branch.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 310‑RCMP. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1‑800‑222‑TIPS (8477) or online at saskcrimestoppers.com.

Timeline of the December 30 incident
Around 5:10 a.m., Pierceland RCMP responded to multiple reports of gunfire on Big Island Lake Cree Nation. Officers found two injured youth at separate homes. Both had serious but non‑life‑threatening injuries and were later determined to have been shot by suspects travelling in a side‑by‑side.
At about 6:00 a.m., officers en route to another reported shooting located a 31‑year‑old man suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite resuscitation efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene. A fourth victim—an adult male—was found shortly afterward and taken to hospital with serious but non‑life‑threatening injuries. Investigators later confirmed he was with the deceased man when the suspects opened fire.
Dangerous Persons Alert
With evidence indicating the shootings were connected and posing ongoing risk, RCMP issued a dangerous persons alert at 8:23 a.m. It remained in effect until 4:49 p.m. that same day.
“Shortly after 8:00 a.m., it was determined that this incident met the criteria for an emergency alert,” said Insp. St. Germaine. “When that determination was made, the appropriate teams were immediately engaged and the alert was issued.”
The Saskatchewan Protection and Response Team and Saskatchewan Marshals Service assisted with security and patrols following the shootings. RCMP units from across the province continue to support the investigation, and residents may still notice increased police presence in the community.
