Advance voting underway for Alberta’s Oct. 19 referendum

Advance voting begins Tuesday, Oct. 13 ahead of Alberta’s Oct. 19 referendum, with three locations available to voters in the Vermilion-Wainwright-Lloydminster riding.

The advance vote goes until Saturday, Oct. 17.

In Lloydminster, advance ballots can be cast at the Border Inn, 5411 44 Street. Other locations in the constituency are the Vermilion Elks Hall, 5026 49 Avenue, and the Wainwright Communiplex, 700 2 Avenue.

All three locations are open from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Identification

Voters need to prove their identity and address when casting a ballot.

They can provide one piece of government-issued photo identification showing their full name, current address and photo.

Another option is to provide two pieces of identification, both showing the voter’s full name, with at least one showing their current physical address.

Voters may also have an authorized signatory complete an attestation form.

The referendum will be held on Monday, Oct. 19.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
