Mobile Mammography Clinic coming to Kitscoty in May

Residents in and around Kitscoty will have access to breast cancer screening closer to home next month, as the Screen Test mobile mammography program visits the community.

A mobile mammography trailer will be set up in the Kitscoty Community Hall parking lot at 5202 51 Street on May 8 and 9, offering screening mammograms to eligible individuals aged 45 to 74.

The service is provided at no cost, but appointments are required. Individuals can book an appointment or learn more about the program by calling 1‑800‑667‑0604.

A mammogram is an X‑ray of the breast and is considered one of the most effective tools for detecting breast cancer early, when treatment options are often more successful. Health officials continue to emphasize that regular screening saves lives.

More information about breast cancer screening and eligibility requirements is available online.

Mobile schedule online

Screen Test’s mobile clinics are designed to improve access to cancer screening in communities where mammography services are not readily available. A full list of communities visited by the mobile program can be found online.

In addition to mobile clinics, screening mammograms are also available at select radiology clinics and some hospitals. Anyone aged 45 to 74 is encouraged to discuss their personal breast cancer risk with their healthcare provider to determine the most appropriate screening option.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
