Lloydminster Co-op Fuel Good Day supporting local school breakfast programs, Sept. 15

Every litre of fuel, cup of coffee and car wash purchased Tuesday, Sept. 15 will help support local students through the Lloydminster & District Co-op’s annual Fuel Good Day fundraiser.

The co-operative is once again directing proceeds from Fuel Good Day to local school breakfast programs, helping ensure students have access to nutritious meals before starting their school day.

On Sept. 15, Lloydminster & District Co-op will donate five cents from every litre of fuel sold, $2 from every car wash purchase, and $1 from every Co-op coffee or Big Cool beverage sold at participating locations.

Barbecues to support the cause

The fundraiser extends beyond the pumps and convenience stores. Co-op says every gas bar location, along with the Southview Car Wash, will host barbecues during the day, with proceeds supporting breakfast programs in rural schools.

BBQ locations include:

  • Marwayne – Hampton Square Co-op Gas Bar (west side)
  • Hillmond – North Stop Co-op Gas Bar
  • Lashburn – Ironwells Co-op Gas Bar (east side)
  • Kitscoty – 18 Street Co-op Gas Bar (south side)
  • Neilburg – Southview Co-op Car Wash

Fuel Good Day is a Co-op initiative held across Western Canada that allows local co-operatives to invest in causes within their communities. In Lloydminster, the campaign focuses on helping schools provide students with access to breakfast programs.

Residents looking to support the initiative can do so simply by fuelling up, purchasing a beverage, getting a vehicle wash or attending one of the community barbecues.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
