Online tickets sold out for Team Latvia vs. Team Germany World Junior tune-up in Lloydminster, Dec. 19

Hockey fans have quickly snapped up online tickets for an international junior hockey matchup coming to Lloydminster this December.

Team Latvia and Team Germany are set to face off at the Cenovus Energy Hub on Dec. 19 in a World Junior pre-competition game, giving local fans a rare opportunity to experience international hockey before the tournament begins in Alberta.

The game is part of the lead-up to the World Junior Championships with the tournament taking place in Edmonton and Red Deer. Lloydminster will be among a select group of Alberta communities hosting exhibition games featuring international teams.

Organizers say the event offers fans the chance to see top young talent from around the world compete while experiencing the excitement and atmosphere that surround the World Juniors.

Team Latvia will train in Lloydminster

In addition to hosting the exhibition game, Lloydminster is embracing Team Latvia as its adopted hometown team. Team Latvia will train at the Cenovus Energy Hub leading up to the game, and residents are being encouraged to show their support by wearing the team’s maroon and white colours and creating a welcoming atmosphere for players and staff.

While online tickets have sold out, fans are encouraged to watch for any updates from event organizers regarding ticket availability. The game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
