Traffic stop in Onion Lake leads to major meth and cocaine seizure

A traffic stop on Onion Lake Cree Nation has resulted in the seizure of hundreds of grams of illegal drugs and multiple trafficking-related charges against a 35-year-old woman.

Police say a search of the vehicle uncovered approximately 28 grams of methamphetamine, a small amount of cocaine, and drug trafficking-related items.

Later that day, RCMP executed a search warrant at a home on Onion Lake Cree Nation. Officers seized an additional 400 grams of methamphetamine, 60 grams of cocaine, cash, two air guns, a knife and more drug trafficking paraphernalia.

The woman is charged with failing to comply with a release order condition, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and possession of methamphetamine and cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

She made her first appearance in Lloydminster Provincial Court on Nov. 4.
