Lloydminster RCMP wearing body cameras

Lloydminster RCMP are now wearing body cameras.

Members were in training last week on the use of the new gear that they are wearing while on duty.

Alberta RCMP see the move as its commitment to transparency and modernization.

Detachments with the new gear include Lloydminster, St. Paul, Sherwood Park, Vulcan, Drayton Valley, Grande Prairie, Claresholm, Evansburg, Fort MacLeod, Nanton, Piikani First Nation, and Pincher Creek.

In January, the rollout will cover Bonnyville, Cold Lake, Elk Point, Fort Saskatchewan, Lac La Biche, Chestermere, Enoch Cree Nation, Gleichen, Mayerthorpe, Sylvan Lake, and Whitecourt.

The extra set of eyes will also be deployed in Onion Lake RCMP.

As more detachments across the country get the new gear the RCMP is inviting you to have your say by providing feedback in its online survey.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
