Lloydminster RCMP have charged two people with fraud of oilfield companies.
On Tuesday, July 28, the RCMP charged Marcel and Lori Laberge with defrauding a company of $276,000 over a three year period, between 2011 and 2014.
On Saturday, July 25, the RCMP searched their house, finding a diamond ring, a 15′ trailer and a Kubota front-end loader, and a power rake, which they say were obtained through fraud.
The couple have been charged with fraud over $5,000 and 6 counts of possession of property obtained by crime. Marcel, a land man, also faces 16 counts of forgery.
“Officers have made oilfield related crimes a priority and will continue to do so”, said Constable Grant Kirzinger. “Financial crimes involving breach of trust are especially concerning as they have wide spread ramifications affecting many aspects of a communities economy. The financial and emotional impact to the victims is often long reaching and devastating.”
They will appear in court September 10th.
