Grant program furnishes Rescue Squad office

Husky Energy’s Community Grant program has helped furnish the new Lloydminster Rescue Squad building. The grant program is available for an employee who volunteers in their community.

Lloydminster Rescue Squad members and Husky employees, Deputy Chief Ryan Leblanc and Wayne Keber applied for the grant as soon as they found out it was available. Leblanc says he’s grateful of what his employer does for the community and the support he receives.

“I work for Husky Energy and they have always been a community supporter. They have always supported the organizations I’ve been a part of. I can’t thank them enough for the help, it makes someone feel appreciated.”

An exact amount isn’t known but Leblanc estimates about $5,000 was spent towards the new furniture. He says a few finishing touches are needed but the office building is almost 100 per cent finished.

“We still have some work to do on the exterior of the building. We’re looking for some parts around the outside and then we have to do some landscaping around the building. Then we’re officially all complete.”
