City Hall launches Large Item Pickup Pilot Program

The City of Lloydminster wants to pick up your unwanted items.

Starting on August 17th, the city is launching the Large Item Pickup Pilot Program, to help residents get rid of their junk. For a $5 fee, the city will pick-up large items from the curb in front of your home.

“Many households have items of furniture or other large items in their homes they no longer need. Some residents are unaware of how to dispose of these items or simply do not have the means to transport them themselves.” said Karen Dela Rosa, General Manager of Waste Services. “The pilot program will help us gauge the need for future similar programs in Lloydminster.”

The City says that acceptable items include appliances, freon units, furniture, mattresses, carpets and household equipment, while unacceptable items include auto parts, construction debris, concrete, trees, hazardous waste, computer monitors and any item over 200 lbs.

Gently used items will be donated to Habitat for Humanity ReStore, while other items will be taken to the landfill.

Registration for the program will be open until Tuesday, July 21, at lloydminster.ca/lips or by phone at (780) 874-3700.
