Devon Canada is shutting down its office in Lloydminster.
The company says that even though they are being affected by the oil downturn, the decision wasn’t made because of falling revenue.
“We made a decision several months ago to create some efficiencies in our organization,” said Nadine Barber, company spokesperson. “One of the ways in which we decided to do that was create a district office that serviced both our Bonnyville operations and our Lloydminster operations. We currently have one office in each of those locations, and it made more sense for use to amalgamate, consolidate those two into one.”
Barber says that the company won’t be pulling out of Lloydminster completely, as they still have oil sites that they will operate from Bonnyville.
Barber also says that she doesn’t know what will happen to the 65 staff that work in Lloydminster’s office.
