Lakeland MS Society set for annual Poker Run

The Lloydminster Chapter of the MS Society has announced their 3rd Annual MS Poker Run for Saturday, August 15.

The society will be partnering with the Just Kruzin Car Club and the Border Town Harley Owners’ group, in running a circuit for cars and motorcycles through the Lakeland region that will see participants grab a card at each station to make a poker hand. The winning hand will earn 10% of proceeds from registration. The worst hand will also earn a prize, and other door prizes will be given away as well.

“MS affects more people here in Canada than anywhere else in the world,” says Johanna Green, Lakeland Regional Director for the MS Society. “By virtue of being Canadians, we all have a stake in the fight against MS, and the Rally provides a unique, and easy opportunity for the community to step up, take ownership of MS as ‘Canada’s disease’ and play a meaningful role in helping to end it.”

Green also says the event raised $4,000 in each of its first two years, and that this year she hopes to raise $5,000. She says the proceeds will be divided between the Lloydminster and St. Paul offices.

The cost to participate is $25 per driver and $15. Riders and drivers in Lloydminster should go to the Cornerstone A&W between 8:00 and 10:30 a.m, while participants from Bonnyville should show up at the Bonnyville A&W. The run will last until 5 p.m.
