Man facing charges after barricading himself, assault with a machete

A suspect is facing charges after barricading himself in an apartment. Lloydminster RCMP members, Maidstone RCMP members, with help from Police Dog Services, and the General Investigation Team are investigating an incident from around 6 a.m. on Saturday, May 18. An armed suspect barricaded himself in an apartment building on the 5100 block of 36 street.

Members were informed that a male, later identified as 22-year-old Craig Fox of Little Pine First Nation, had attacked another male with a machete, and was now running around the apartment building. Fox was located a short time later, and after a short fight with RCMP members, was arrested. The male victim was transported via EMS to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Fox was charged with assault with a weapon, two counts of assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, failing to comply with a probation order and two counts of uttering threats. Fox was remanded in custody for his court appearance on Tuesday, May 28 in Lloydminster Provincial Court.
