City Hall opens voting for “Tunes on the Town” designs

Local artists are vying for the chance to paint pianos that will be placed in the downtown core.

In August, City Hall unveiled their “Tunes on the Town” initiative, which would see two pianos decorated and placed in strategic locations downtown, coinciding with conversations on downtown revitalization.

Throughout August, local artists had a chance to submit proposals for how they would decorate the pianos. Eight artists have put their ideas forward.

“The response from the local arts community was fantastic and we thank them for sharing such creative, original concepts for these pianos,” said Mayor Rob Saunders. “This program was conceptualized with an eye on continuing discussions surrounding downtown revitalization initiatives. There are many more components to this program that we look forward to unveiling in the coming weeks .”

Votes can be cast at lloydminster.ca/yourvoice. Voting will remain open until Tuesday, September 22, and a winner will be announced Wednesday, September 23.
