Crime reduction deployment leads to arrest of Onion Lake man

The deployment of RCMP’s crime reduction team in Onion Lake led to the arrest of a wanted 35-year-old man.

Last week, the CRT and Onion Lake RCMP arrived at residence seeking information on a man wanted on several warrants.  Police say they searched the area after several people denied any knowledge on the man’s whereabouts.

A man matching the description of the wanted individual, 35-year-old Philip Scott Heathen was found hiding in tall grass. During the arrest, RCMP confiscated cocaine, cannabis, methamphetamine and cash.

Heathen faces 12 charges including Assault with a Weapon and will appear in Lloydminster Provincial Court on July 22.

The CRT assists detachments with a focus on capturing prolific offenders, repeat offenders and gang members.
