Yoga studios encouraging fitness during COVID-19 pandemic

Some Lloydminster yoga studios are trying to do their part to keep everyone exercising, despite being stuck at home.

Both Pure Vibe and Yogaste Studios have moved to online classes, designed to encourage the public to get in their exercise at home. Currently, both studios are operating classes from their Facebook pages, as well as opening YouTube channels for those not on social media.

Yogaste owner Richelle Kube says her classes will help people keep maintain a regular fitness routine in an easy to access way.

“It’s really important to keep everyone breathing, keep everyone moving and make it easy for them. I don’t want to make it hard for a parent to sign on. I don’t want payments, sign-ups, all that stuff. I just want it to be one click, and you’re watching yoga.”

Both studios are also expressing a desire to help kids get into yoga and fitness. They say that it will add structure back into their day with schools being cancelled and also gets them away from sedentary activities like electronics.

Pure Vibe Co-owner and Operations Manager Lindsay Saville says that these activities can also provide a sense of comfort.

“Some of the biggest things I’ve heard is finding something familiar in a really unfamiliar situation. So our studio is really familiar to a lot of our members, a lot of our instructors. So by offering these classes, it kind of makes them feel like they can find something familiar, as they navigate through the unfamiliar.”

Yogaste’s and Pure Vibes’ online classes and information can be found on their respective Facebook pages.
