One Lakeland College employee confirmed as COVID-19 positive, no other confirmed cases on campus

Lakeland College has confirmed that one staff member has tested positive for COVID-19 on October 19th, but there have been no other confirmed cases on campus.

The case was confirmed in a staff member on the Lloydminster campus. The College says Saskatchewan Public Health staff are working to ensure necessary measures are in place to protect the college community, contacting those who may have been in close contact with the person. If someone does not hear from them, they likely haven’t been exposed.

There are no other confirmed cases in the Lakeland campus communities. The Lloydminster campus remains open to employees and students. There are no changes to our program and service delivery.

Lakeland is also thanking the employee who followed protocol and stayed home when feeling ill. Due to this, the college says, Public Health staff believe the risk of transmission is low. The individual is self-isolating.

All residents, staff and students are urged to continue following the COVID-19 guidelines of their health region. Lakeland’s protocols are available on their website.
