Lloydminster man charged after break and enter to Legion

Lloydminster RCMP have laid charges in the break an enter to the Royal Canadian Legion.

The crime occurred Saturday, December 19th, 2015, when a small safe was taken from the Royal Canadian Legion in the 45 hundred block of 49 avenue. A male was seen leaving the scene on a bicycle with a large Rubbermaid container.

RCMP attended and observed bicycle tire tracks in the fresh snow leading away from the scene and followed the trail but even with extensive patrols, the suspect was not located. On Friday, December 25th, Lloydminster RCMP received a tip with respect to the location of the safe. Police attended and recovered the safe and some of the items contained in the safe.

35-year-old, Kurtis Chartrand, of Lloydminster has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime. Chartrand appeared in court Tuesday, January 5th, 2016 and has been remanded in custody until his next court date next Tuesday, January 12th.
