City completes lighting upgrades in local rec facilities

The City of Lloydminster has completed lighting upgrades to 3 local recreational facilities.

LED lighting has been installed in the Centennial Civic Centre, the Russ Robertson Arena, and the Lloydminster Golf & Curling Centre, over the past 6 months. In July of last year, city council approved the recommendation that revenue from the 2015 electric franchise fee rate increase be used to replacement lighting in city facilities.

“The energy savings created with LED lighting are significant and will positively impact future operational budgets,” said Peter McHugh, General Manager, Facilities.

“LEDs also provide a better quality light and require less maintenance.”

The upgrades are estimated to save the City $28,500 annually.
