Lloydminster RCMP arrest dangerous driver following chase across the city

A 39-year-old man is facing charges after leading Lloydminster RCMP in a chase across the city.

Mounties attempted to stop a vehicle at 43rd Street near 48th Avenue for a traffic infraction on January 9th at around 12:20 a.m. The driver did not stop and RCMP say he continued driving across Lloydminster in a dangerous manner including driving across a median, running red lights and making several u-turns on 44th Street.

RCMP deployed several tire deflation devices and the driver ran into a police car in an attempt to avoid them. The vehicle was eventually stopped by one of the devices and the driver tried to resist arrest.

Sean Ruda was charged with impaired driving, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, resisting a peace office, assaulting a police officer with a weapon and failing to comply. He was taken into custody and appeared in Lloydminster Provincial Court on January 11th.
