Over the weekend, Battlefords RCMP reported to the scene of a snowmobile collision.
Late in the evening on Friday, police reported to the accident off highway 378, north of North Battleford. The hands of one of the drivers on the sleds were severed off in the collision. With the assistance of North Battleford Fire, STARS Ambulance was able to transport the injured male to Royal University Hospital.
The injured driver is a 22-year-old, male resident of North Battleford. His name will not be released.
The initial investigation has shown that the snowmobile drove off a steep backslope at the edge of the highway road allowance. Speed and poor visibility in the dark were also contributing factors in the collision.
