Bobcats host successful steak night fundraiser

Supporters of the Lloydminster Bobcats should be feeling good about themselves.

Not only has the team had a successful season on the ice, about to kick off their playoff run, but last Friday, March 4th, the organization put on another successful fundraiser thanks to the generosity of the team’s supporters and sponsors.

The Bobcats held their first ever steak dinner fundraiser, which took place at the Canadian Brewhouse.

Kandace Letkeman, the organizer of the event, says that the steak night went so well that the organization will definitely be looking to do another one. And the next time around, they’ll make sure the players will be there. This past weekend, the Bobcats weren’t able to attend their own fundraiser because they were in Drayton Valley to finish off the regular season, with a pair of games Friday and Saturday evening. They finished the weekend with a record of 1-1.

The ‘Cats start their playoff run tonight against the Drayton Valley Thunder at the Centennial Civic Centre, with a 7:30 p.m. puck drop, which will be repeated tomorrow, March 11th.

The organization sold 90 tickets to the event on Friday, at $25.00 each, putting them just shy of their goal of 100 tickets, but the fundraiser brought in a total of $1610.00, according to Letkeman.

“It went SO well. I swear half the place was Bobcats people so it was great… a huge thank you to everyone who came out, and for Brewhouse. Our service was amazing and food was excellent,” raves Letkeman.

The funds will go towards helping cover the costs of general operations for the team.
