Now in its 20th year, money raised at the annual Lloydminster Region Health Foundation’s Gala will go towards a new ventilator for the local hospital.
“The Gala this year is on June 4th. Richardson’s Jewellery is going to be our presenting sponsor. So we are extremely thankful to them for their support as well.”
Stephanie Munro Chief Executive Officer of the Lloydminster Region Health Foundation is sharing plans for the forthcoming Gala fundraiser for the Lloydminster Hospital to be held at the Lloydminster Stockade.
“This year we are raising funds for the greatest needs of Lloydminster Hospital and our care centres in Lloydminster as well. One of those items will include a second ventilator that can be used between the special care unit as well as the maternity ward.”
The Gala will have a live as well as a silent auction and musical entertainment, says Munro.
“This year we are having Side One, who has been the entertainment for the last couple of galas. They’re an amazing cover band and they play all genres; everything. Our guests and attendees that evening will be able to go up and make requests. They should be able to accomodate most of those.”
Munro explains the importance of getting another ventilator as it will ease the need to airlift patients.
“If they have this piece of equipment they are able to keep babies here in Lloydminster rather than having them airlifted out. They are able to keep them here in Lloydminster; having the families stay in Lloydminster, rather than having the trauma of having to go to the city with their child.”
Vice versa she says if the ventilator is in use in the maternity ward, then if it’s needed by another patient requiring special care, that person has to be airlifted to the city. Having a second ventilator will ease that burden of transferring a loved one to a city hospital.
The Gala will begin with cocktails at 4:30 p.m. with the meal being served at 6:00 p.m.
