Bonnyville RCMP have made a couple arrests following a traffic stop.

On Saturday, March 19th, around 2 a.m., while doing routine patrols, police pulled over a vehicle with its license plate falling off to ensure the vehicle was not stolen. The Constable determined the vehicle was not stolen but neither occupant was the owner. Both occupants were known to police through and while speaking to the occupants, the officer smelled the odour of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

The 34-year-old, female passenger was arrested on outstanding warrants from Cold Lake and the male driver, arrested for Possession of Marijuana. Search of the vehicle revealed a small baggy of what was believed to be methamphetamine.

The driver admitted the marijuana belonged to him but due to the trace amount, the man was released with a warning. The woman has been released on court compelling documents and will appear in Bonnyville Provincial Court for possession of methamphetamine, and Cold Lake Provincial Court for her outstanding warrants.
