RCMP supports freedom of expression as two groups plan marches around city hall

The Lloydminster RCMP is underlining everyone’s right to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly while preserving peace and maintaining public safety. This as two groups with differing opinions will make a stand at Lloydminster City Hall on Wednesday, Sep. 20.

The One Million March 4 Children indicates that it comprises parents and families with the common goal of protecting their children against premature sexualization and harmful indoctrination.

In a statement, local 2SLGBTQ+ groups say the “One Million March 4 Children” banner claims to be in support of parental rights, but its rally “is explicitly an anti-2SLGBTQIA+” event.

Both groups plan to march at Lloydminster City Hall from 10 a.m. The marches coincide with similar events planned at legislatures across Canada on Wednesday.

The local police say it recognizes the rights of the public, all road users, residents, and businesses to a safe environment.

Meanwhile, in conjunction with Grace United Church, Lloydminster 2SLGBTQIA+ groups will hold a community candlelight vigil on Wednesday evening for anyone it says may need a safe space.

Motorists wanting to avoid the marches should detour before getting to the Highway 16-Highway 17 intersection in Lloydminster and also the downtown area near City Hall.
