2 children suffer facial wounds from dangerous dog

Children in Vegreville are in hospital after having suffered dog bites.
On Thursday May 5th, at 5:45pm, the Vegreville RCMP responded to a complaint that a child had been bitten by a dog at a residence in town.
When police arrived they were directed to the rear of the residence where 2 small children were suffering from serious facial wounds consistent with dog bites.
The animal was unknown to the victims. Both children were transported to the hospital by EMS personnel, one of whom was later taken to the Stollery Children’s Hospital for further treatment.

The RCMP have seized the dog and it is being held for further observation. In partnership with Alberta Health Services and local municipal bylaw officers, the RCMP have made an application in Provincial Court to determine the fate of canine.

The RCMP says both children were very brave and are doing as well as can be expected following this traumatic event.
