Pedestrian killed along highway near Pierceland

A 32-year old woman is dead after being struck by a vehicle on the side of the highway near Pierceland, Sask.

The incident took place late Sunday night. According to a release issued by the Pierceland RCMP, police responded to a call of a vehicle versus a pedestrian collision around 11:15 p.m. The collision took place 16 kilometres east of Pierceland, along Highway 55. The woman, who was a resident of Mudie Lake First Nation, was struck and pronounced dead at the scene, after police from the Pireceland detachment along with Pierceland Fire, Cold Lake Fire, and Cold Lake EMS attended the incident.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured, and no charges have been laid at this time. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
