Lloyd Comp students prep for Christmas Market, Dec. 4

The student artisans are in creative high mode as they prepare for the LCHS Christmas Market at the Lloydminster Comprehensive on Dec. 4. About 40 vendors will be present for the first time event says grade 12’s Lauryn Harrison. The event is cash-only.

“It includes student-teams like Granny Club, and it’s giving everyone the opportunity to sell bake goods, crafts and anything like that. There’s going to be some live music from the jazz band playing. So, that will be pretty sweet,” says Lauryn.

Santa Claus will be on hand for the excitement at the new Synergy Gym and there will also be a photo booth, and face painting.

“There’s definitely quite the variety of goods that people are selling.”

In June, the members of Granny Club debuted their knitting, crocheting and self-care products at a smaller school event and Lauryn says, “They were definitely a show-stopper.”

“Every 12th grader has to run a leadership event and I chose this as my big event. In the leadership team we have different committees and we help out with decorating.”

The new gym will be turned into a winter wonderland says Lauryn, who recently became a member of Granny Club.

“The main goal is they do “Granny activities” like baking, crocheting, and knitting. For the market they have body scrubs. They are adding a few new things like simmer pots that give an aromas like cinnamon.”

The family friendly event is open to everyone from noon to 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 4.

Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
