Early detection: Mobile Breast Screening returns to Wainwright in March

Residents in Wainwright will have more access to breast cancer screening next month as Alberta’s Screen Test mobile mammography program returns to the community.

The mobile clinic will be parked at the Wainwright Health Centre, located at 530 – 6 Avenue, from March 5-7 and again from March 9-12.

The program offers no‑cost screening mammograms for eligible individuals aged 45 to 74, though appointments are required. Those wishing to book a screening or learn more can call 1‑800‑667‑0604.

Early detection – Screening for life

A mammogram is an X‑ray of the breast, and screening is considered the most effective method for detecting breast cancer early, when treatment is more likely to be successful. More details on eligibility are available at screeningforlife.ca.

Bringing screening options to communities

The Screen Test mobile units are designed to bring breast cancer screening to communities where access is limited, serving thousands of Albertans each year. Along with its mobile clinics, screening is also available at radiology clinics and some hospitals across the province.

Individuals are encouraged to discuss their personal risk and screening options with their healthcare providers. A full list of mobile clinic stops, and additional screening locations can be found at screeningforlife.ca.

The online schedule shows visits planned for Bonnyville April 6-11 and Killam April 14-18. Call 1-800-667-0604 to confirm Screen Test dates for your community or to book an appointment.

Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
