Greatest need: LRHF highlights new home for cancer care at 2026 Gala

The Lloydminster Region Health Foundation (LRHF) says providing compassionate, high‑quality cancer care close to home remains one of the community’s greatest health‑care needs — and it is the focus of the foundation’s 2026 Gala priority project.

The foundation is spotlighting A New Home for Hope: A Place for Cancer Care and Comfort, an initiative aimed at supporting the relocation of the hospital’s Cancer Care Unit into a space designed around healing, dignity, and patient comfort.

Themed, Moulin Rouge, the 24th annual LRHF Gala takes place on April 24 at the Lloydminster Exhibition from 5:00 p.m.

According to the LRHF, cancer treatment is rarely a one‑time experience. Many patients must return to the hospital for weeks or months of regular treatments, spending long hours receiving care while coping with the emotional and physical toll of a cancer diagnosis.

The foundation says the environment in which that care is delivered plays a critical role in the patient experience. A thoughtfully designed space can help reduce stress, offer patients greater privacy, improve comfort, and support more efficient workflows for health‑care teams.

Through the New Home for Hope campaign, the LRHF says it will help fund essential components of the Cancer Care Unit’s relocation. Those funds will support enhancements to patient treatment areas, upgraded equipment, and features aimed at creating a more welcoming and supportive environment for patients and their families.

The LRHF emphasizes the project is about more than physical space or medical equipment. Foundation representatives say it is about ensuring that when someone in the Lloydminster region hears the words “you have cancer,” they know they can receive compassionate, high‑quality care close to home, in a space designed with their needs at the “heart of it.”

With community support, the LRHF says the project will help create a new home for cancer care — a place where hope is fostered, comfort is prioritized, and healing can begin.

His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
