Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement issued for Lloydminster and the Midwest region.
Bands of heavy snow are expected tonight through Saturday morning, with periods of rapid accumulation and poor visibility. Conditions may deteriorate quickly in heavier bands, with snowfall totals varying significantly from place to place.
Some localized areas could see up to 10 centimetres of snow in a short period of time.
Blowing snow is also possible overnight and into Friday afternoon, reducing visibility further as northwest winds increase to 40 to 70 kilometres per hour.
Motorists are urged to prepare for rapidly changing and hazardous travel conditions.
