Lloydminster’s Libbie Young Centre hosting online auction, May 4-10

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and local advocates are highlighting the importance of mental well‑being and the resources available in the community — including at Lloydminster’s Libbie Young Centre.

The Libbie Young Centre, named after Elizabeth Libbie Young, is hosting its annual Mental Health Matters online auction fundraiser from May 4-10. Proceeds from the auction will support mental health programs and services at the Lloydminster centre.

National Mental Health Week will also be observed May 4-10.

Organizers say this year’s theme for the week, Come Together, Canada, emphasizes the power of connection. They note that coming together as a community helps reduce isolation, strengthens support networks, and promotes better mental well‑being for everyone.

Community members can browse and bid on auction items online throughout the week, supporting local mental health initiatives while taking part in the fundraiser.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
