Lloydminster Comp student named to Canada’s U19 men’s national volleyball team

A Lloydminster Comprehensive High School student will be representing Canada on the international volleyball stage.

Lennon Mari has earned a spot on Canada’s U19 Men’s National Volleyball Team and will compete at the 2026 U19 NORCECA Men’s Continental Championship in Burnaby.

The international tournament runs May 12–17 at Simon Fraser University and features national teams from across North America, Central America and the Caribbean.

The event includes two pools of four teams.

Canada has been placed in a pool with Barbados, Costa Rica and Mexico. Canada’s first scheduled match is Tuesday, May 12 at 9:00 p.m. against Barbados.

The United States is grouped with Dominican Republic, Panama and Puerto Rico, with the tournament’s opening match set for 3:00 p.m. featuring the U.S. and Panama.

Fans can watch the action online through CBC Sports and YouTube, or attend in person in Burnaby throughout the week.

The selection marks a major milestone for Mari and another proud moment for Lloydminster’s local sports community.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
