Two Lloydminster Holy Rosary students among 110 Saskatchewan trade scholarship recipients

A few Midwest students including two at Holy Rosary High School in Lloydminster are among 110 students in Saskatchewan to win a $1,000 scholarship to pursue studies in the trades.

The talent includes:

  • Carter Rowein – Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Industry Scholarship – Holy Rosary
  • Kevin Domes – Welder Saskatchewan Construction Association Scholarship – Holy Rosary
  • Emersyn Graham – Powerline Technician Industry Scholarship – Ernie Studer School (Loon Lake)
  • Sophie Becotte – Powerline Technician Industry Scholarship – Maidstone High School

The Saskatchewan Youth Apprenticeship (SYA) Industry Scholarships are awarded by the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission (SATCC).

Students have two years to use the scholarship. They must either register as an apprentice in Saskatchewan and complete Level 1 training, or finish an approved post-secondary apprenticeship program in a skilled trade.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
