Lakeland College’s Feast on the Farm raises $96,000 for student success

Community support was on full display at Lakeland College’s 2026 Feast on the Farm, with the sold-out fundraiser generating $96,000 to support student-led learning opportunities.

The ninth annual event, presented by Cenovus Energy, was held Thursday, Aug. 13 on the college’s Vermilion campus farm. Alumni, industry partners, donors, community members and college supporters gathered for an evening of food, entertainment, dancing and networking, all with a common goal of investing in student success.

According to the college, the funds raised will help support the hands-on learning experiences that are a key part of the Lakeland educational experience. These opportunities include student-led projects, research, competitions, events and field-based learning.

“Feast on the Farm is a wonderful celebration of what becomes possible when a community invests in its students,” said Dr. Alice Wainwright Stewart, president and CEO of Lakeland College. “This incredible support helps Lakeland students turn their ideas and ambitions into action, whether they are growing food for their community, showcasing their creativity and skills, or representing Canada on the world stage.”

The evening featured live entertainment from Cole Martin and was emceed by Lakeland alumni, highlighting the connection between past and present students. Guests also heard directly from students during a panel discussion, where they shared how experiential learning opportunities have helped shape their education and future career paths.

College officials say support from Feast on the Farm helps ensure these opportunities continue to grow. The event is backed by presenting sponsor Cenovus Energy, along with champion and scholar sponsors.

Since launching in 2016, Feast on the Farm has supported more than 50 student-led projects and has now raised more than $526,000 for student initiatives.

“We are truly grateful for the tremendous support from Feast on the Farm,” Stewart said. “Thank you for believing in the potential of our students.”
