Battlefords and Turtleford RCMP arrest five people for vehicle thefts

Four men and one woman are facing charges after two vehicles were stolen in Edam.

Police from Battlefords and Turtleford responded to a complaint just before two A.M Saturday of vehicles being stolen and driven towards the Battlefords area. With help from the Meota COPP/Rural Crime Watch RCMP  were able to get vehicle descriptions and the direction the suspects were travelling.

The vehicles were eventually found by Turtleford RCMP after the suspects got stuck in a farm field south of Whitkow. Four people were arrested at the scene. A fifth person escaped on foot and was arrested after being located by the RCMP Police Dog Service. Police also seized a gun and a quantity of drugs.

The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
