Battlefords RCMP are looking for the public’s tips related to several intentionally set fires on the Sweetgrass First Nation.
Around 10 PM on May 7th, police received multiple calls of grass fires being set in the area. When police arrived, the fires had gotten quite large, and some homes had to be evacuated. Witnesses have also reported someone on an ATV was seen near where fires were set.
No homes were lost, but emergency services had to spend several hours on the scene to make sure the public was safe.
Battlefords RCMP are asking that if the public has any information to reach out to their local RCMP detachment or CrimeStoppers.
