Ahmadiyya Muslim Women’s Auxiliary to host info session

Lakeland College will be hosting members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Women’s Auxiliary for an information session Thursday, December 17.

The public is invited to meet with members of the organization to learn and discuss Muslim culture. Since December 2, the group has been running a national campaign, called Je Suis Hijabi, in order to raise awareness about Muslim culture, and dispel myths about Muslim women, especially hijab-wearing women.

“This is just a friendly step to provide a platform where the public can ask questions,” said Mubarika Ahmed, one of the spokespeople for the group. “It opens the door of communication because with communication it will remove fear of any kind and it also provides an understanding. Ladies can come and they can try on a hijab and they can say that I walked a mile in her hijab.”

The event will run from 11-3 outside book store, at the Lloydminster campus.
