Government funding approved for 62 Ave and 44 St. intersection construction

The Saskatchewan Government has approved funding for the reconstruction of 62 Avenue and 44 Street intersection.

The city applied for just under $1.7 million in funding through the Municipal Economic Enhancement Program (MEEP). The intersection work is planned for next year and will see the underground lines replaced before a concrete pad is placed on top. The city will pay for the remaining estimated $970,000 to complete the work.

The Village of Paradise Hill was also approved for over $70,000 in funding. The money will go towards an erosion control project, a Carlton Trail sign and water treatment plant filters.

The program provides $150 million to municipalities in an effort to stimulate the economy and encourage local job creation. The province says 244 projects have been funded through the program so far and all money provided to municipalities must be used by March 31, 2022. The deadline for application is July 31st, 2020.
