Ribs, beer and a celebration of the barbecue cuisine as the third Border City Connects Ribfest is on this Father’s Day weekend in Lloydminster.
The Western Canadian Ribfest tour will be set up at the Lloyd Ex this weekend with several food trucks to choose from.
Aaron Buckingham with Border City Connects stresses the family friendly atmosphere.
“We are having free cabarets. No charge to get in; both nights. Friday and Saturday nights from 9-1 a.m. So you can come on down and enjoy the music and hangout there. And we have got lots of local bands and entertainers that are going to be performing in the beer gardens during the day and right up to the evening.”
Buckingham noted it’s a great weekend to come to Lloydminster with the Carnival and fair rides at the LloydMall, the RCMP Musical Ride also at the Lloyd Ex and the Ribfest to support the work of Border City Connects.
“The greatest need for Border City Connects is operations because the price of fuel has had a very detrimental effect on our ability to do things. It’s an astronomical difference from 5-6 months ago to today.”
Buckingham says it’s getting tougher to provide transportation to mobility-challenged people as they seek to get them to their medical and other appointments.
Friday and Saturday the hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
