Fire crews were called into action Wednesday afternoon as a semi-truck hauling snow
caught fire in the eastbound lane of Hwy 16 just before Superstore.
Flames were seen rising on the city’s skyline just before 3 p.m.
The blaze which was just across from the Lloydminster RCMP detachment saw officers diverting traffic as they sought to secure the public’s safety between 52 Avenue and 50 Avenue.
Crews dealt with the flare up in about 25 minutes leaving the smouldering remains of the semi’s engine. The truck’s cargo of snow was still intact.
No injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.
