For the first time in the programs history the Rustlers Women’s Hockey team is headed to the league finals.
Over the weekend The Rustlers faced off against the SAIT Trojans in a best of 3 series in the semi-finals.
Game 1 saw the Trojans force the game into OT, with SAIT taking the win.
Now in a do or die situation for Game 2, the Rustlers came out swinging with a 3-1 victory over the Trojans.
Going in to Game 3 on Sunday, the Rustlers were behind by 2 goals after 1 period of play. The ladies kept the pressure and scored 4 goals straight to win 4-2.
The team will prepare to face off against the NAIT Ooks in the ACAC Championship series. With a home ice advantage the Rustlers will begin the series on Friday, March 8 at the Russ Robertson Arena. Game time not yet announced.
The team has the potential to play Game 3 on home ice March 15, where Lakeland could potentially win ACAC gold in front of Rustler Nation.
