Building bonds for family wellness, Wednesday April 17 at Lloyd Comp

To offer more information to parents to help with their child’s growth and development, the LPSD School Community Councils will host an information night on Wednesday, April 17 to build family wellness.

The event at the Lloydminster Comprehensive has several pieces including:

  • The Nest Project on practices that you can implement into your routine to best support holistic health for you and your teen. Plus evidence-based practices that assist in supporting caregiver and teen wellness
  • Your teen and the online world – Cst. Cory Booth – school resource officer
  • Connection through play – LPSD speech-language therapist, Kristin Coulter will share about the various stages of play. Discuss role-playing in establishing strong and authentic relationships between parents and children. Learn innovative ideas on how to guide your child’s play skills through the stages
  • SHINE Session: A communication tool to get them talking to you. Parents learn about fostering communication with their children to build connection and awareness
  • Managing Anxiety with Coping Strategies – Learn more about anxiety and positive coping strategies. Stress and anxiety are experienced on a regular basis making it hard to enjoy life fully
  • LCHS counsellor Riley Gilroyed will speak on the link between anger and depression in adolescent males

Several information tables will be set up and the sessions are listed to wrap up at 7:30 p.m.
