Holy Rosary Raiders capture fourth 3A Alberta Bowl title

The Holy Rosary High School Raiders have cemented their place as a provincial powerhouse, claiming their fourth 3A Alberta Bowl championship with a decisive win over the Cardston Cougars. The matchup took place on Saturday, November 29, at Jasper Place Bowl in Edmonton as part of the ASAA Football Provincials.

The Raiders dominated throughout the playoffs, defeating St. Paul Lions 44-15 in the North Championship before overpowering Cardston in the final. This victory adds to Holy Rosary’s growing legacy in Alberta high school football, following previous 3A titles in recent years.

In the final, the Cougars were leading at the half, 14–13. The Raiders would take the second half opening kickoff and run a fake reverse for a touchdown. They would add another touchdown in the second half, making the final score 26–14.

The Alberta Bowl weekend featured teams from across the province battling in multiple tiers. The 3A-tier is for schools with a population under 799.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
