If health matters are of concern to you, then perhaps you might consider serving on Alberta’s Regional Advisory Council 9 as the Lloydminster representative.
The council advises on health priorities and challenges in the region.
Recently the Lloydminster Concerned Citizens for Seniors Care wrote to the Alberta health minster about the lack of representation on the regional council.
The minster replied in part that, “it is important to ensure community members who want to make a difference and improve health care in their region are involved.”
The minister noted Lloydminster’s unique situation being partly in Saskatchewan and in Alberta, and encouraged “individuals who wish to contribute their valuable insights to apply” by emailing: health.recruitment-rac@gov.ab.ca.
Commitment
Members will be appointed for a term of three years. A mix of virtual and in-person meetings take place about four to six times per year.
The role calls for volunteering and working in your community, knowledge and understanding of Alberta’s health care system and strong communication skills among other criteria.
This is a voluntary position and Council members may be reimbursed for reasonable travel expenses during the course of performing their duties based on the Travel, Meal, and Hospitality Expenses Policy.
More details on the member’s handbook, terms of reference, operational framework and code of conduct may be obtained on the Regional Advisory Council website.
Suggestions
