Lea Park Bridge aims for Nov. 15 reopening: Alberta Transport

Hard work and good weather are being credited as the Lea Park Bridge north of Marwayne could be re-opened to two-way traffic by Nov. 15.

The bridge which was opened in 1958 had to be closed for repairs after routine maintenance revealed failures in a the steel floor system and cracks in the concrete deck above.

The bridge was closed on Oct. 17 and repairs started on Oct. 28. The bridge on Highway 897 is an important roadway for crossing the North Saskatchewan River and detours have been in place with appropriate signs to ensure the safety and access to the area. Those detours will remain in place until the bridge reopens.

Crews will return after winter to do touching up chores like painting and other less critical work that requires warmer weather,” says Alberta Transport.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
