Repair work to continue on traffic signals at 44 Street and 66 Avenue intersection

The City of Lloydminster is advising drivers to use caution at the intersection of 44 Street and 66 Avenue as crews continue repairs to traffic signal infrastructure.

The signal arm which spans the double lane highway and holds the traffic lights came down on the roadway in mid-morning on Friday, Nov. 14. As of Nov. 21, a replacement has been lying on the service road adjacent to the west lane of the highway.

A traffic signal contractor is expected to install a new base, pole, and signal arm. Concrete will be poured for a new base, which will take about a week to cure before the new pole can be installed. This according to a post on the City of Lloydminster’s website.

If weather and site conditions cooperate, the intersection is expected to return to full operation during the week of December 8.

Until then, the lights will remain in flash mode—yellow for east-west traffic and red for north-south traffic. All lanes will stay open, and temporary stop signs will be placed on the boulevard for north-south drivers.

Motorists are asked to slow down and stay alert while travelling through the area.
