Rustlers Women’s Volleyball are 4-peat ACAC champs

Lakeland College Rustlers Women’s Volleyball team are making history with four wins in a row as ACAC champions, but the job is not done yet.

The College community is celebrating the win and coaching staff will be hard at work for a return to the national stage to defend the overall title.

“We are very proud of our women’s volleyball team.  They have worked extremely hard this year to earn the right to compete at the National Championships.  There perseverance  and dedication to a common goal was definitely evident throughout the season,”  said Al Rogan, director of athletics at Lakeland College.

The coaching staff are elated at the manner in which the players have put in the work.

“I’m very happy for my players and our program. My athletes have shown unbelievable perseverance and resilience this year and I’m happy they were able to stick together all the way to the end and perform the way they did throughout the conference championship,” said coach, Austin Dyer.

Heading to nationals

The Rustlers will target a four-peat at the national level when the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) get going in Niverville, Manitoba from March 11-14. The Niverville Community Resource and Recreation Centre will host eight of Canada’s leading women’s college teams.

Lakeland College (home) will play the hosts Providence Pilots (away) in a quarter final match up on Wed. Mar. 11 at 6:00 p.m. CDT.

Three other programs in CCAA history have done a four-peat:

  • VIU Mariners (2018-2022)
  • F.X. Garneau (2000–2003)
  • Sherbrooke (1985–1988)

The schedule is available online via the CCAA website.
