With the implementation of purchasing cards, City Council has put into place a policy for those using them.
The policy includes spending caps for individual and total monthly transactions. However immediate purchases can be accommodated due to the online features of the cards. allowing for the immediate identification personal purchases.
The policy also includes measures for those who use the purchasing cards for items other than their intended purpose. The disciplinary action can be anything from a warning up to the employee being fired.
“Our responsibility is to be accountable and transparent to our residents. The intent of this policy is to ensure every dollar of City funding is responsibly spent and tracked within the framework of the approved City Budget,” says Chief Financial Officer Michel Dion.
Employees will be undergoing orientations before being issued a purchasing card.
