Art Soul Life applying for small business grant to increase art supplies

Art Soul Life Creative Studio is looking for extra funding to buy more art supplies.

The studio has applied for a small business grant through FedEx that if received will be used to offer more resources in the studio. Partner at Art Soul Life Tanya Leblanc says the grant seemed like a right fit for the business.

“We’ve had a lot of people come in to the studio and ask in particular about eventually having clay wheels and so we felt like this was a good way to possibly get the funding and do the investment into the clay wheels for the studio.”

The art studio offers drop in classes for pottery and canvas painting, as well as after school programs. Leblanc says that there isn’t a lot of opportunity in the City for creative kids to have an outlet.

“We looked at that and went there must be other kids that aren’t necessarily athletic or in any extra curricular activities within the school and figured that there was a need here in Lloydmister to provide that for the kids.”

The first place winner of the grant will receive $25,000 in funding along with $15,000 in marketing and consulting services. The second place winner will receive $15,000 with an extra $5000 in consulting services and their are eight businesses that will receive $5,000.

Leblanc says that they have created a space where families can reconnect and people can come together to be creative.

“We’ve really opened up a lot of people to art that maybe didn’t think that they were artistic or creative and they’ve come into the studio and created a masterpiece just by coming in and spending time with their families.”

People can vote for the studio as a way to help them receive the grant. Voting closes on May 13 and the winners of will be announced on June 19.
